Resolve Marine Prepares to go to Haiti

MIAMI, January 14, 2010 - At the direction of founder and CEO Joe Farrell, Resolve Marine Group is assembling resources in Port Everglades, including a salvage tug and floating crane, to support relief efforts in Haiti. Tuesday's earthquake, which caused catastrophic damage and loss of life, has severely impaired marine traffic access to the harbor at Port-au-Prince.

Resolve is planning to send emergency response experienced salvage technicians and divers with its response vessel. The company would work in support of U.S government agencies and disaster relief organization priorities to clear the path for humanitarian efforts and supply logistics.

Resolve's salvage tug Pioneer had just completed a project in south Florida waters and left on the return voyage to its home station in Alabama when the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti at 16:53:09 local time (21:53:09 UTC) on Tuesday, 12 January 2010. Farrell immediately ordered the equipment to return to Port Everglades and make preparations to help.

According to the Red Cross, as many as three million people may have been affected by the quake, which collapsed government buildings and caused major damage to hospitals in the area.

Large portions of the Haitian capital and its major landmarks were seriously damaged in the earthquake, including the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, Presidential Palace and National Assembly building.
